Want to feel weird? While looking at my webstats, I found out that my picture on the front page, the one with me as a kid dressed kind of like a longshoreman, was mentioned on a blog by some guy who's in the ROTC. He also included the picture and referred to me as "an adorable little union leader."
It gets better. A few people have left comments. One guy said, "The kid is cute." Yes, a guy, an adult male. Somebody else posted, "I usually never watch movies with black people in them....well maybe I do, but only to see how long the stereotypical "black dude" lives." Now, what does that last comment have to do with my picture? I have no idea. The ROTC guy actually was posting about loosing his hat and the "adorable little union leader" that he found a picture of online. This so falls into "don't ask, don't tell" doesn't it? jh2media recently completed a message board for one of our clients, the band Mudkicka. I hate the php board that we use. It's not easy to change the way it looks. We have to incorporate it into our sites, make it look like it belongs there. I'd love to find a different board to use. It just takes time to test them out. I've been looking at miniBB and hope that we can use that one day.
I've also been testing some experimental things. Experimental of course meaning natively supported in Mozilla/Firefox and not in Internet Explorer. There is a reason why Microsoft decided to give Internet Explorer away for free instead of trying to sell it. Luckily, there are a few special code tricks that you can use to get Internet Explorer to display things like Mozilla does. Unfortunately, some of the cooler things do not have any code tricks. It would not surprise me that in a year, M$ tries to buy Mozilla. The weather isn't going to be nice for our Easter. Saturday and Saturday night into Sunday morning could be rough. I'm not looking forward to it, and after the weather event, it's going to get a bit cooler afterwards. I think winter is done with us, but it may have left some little bits behind. 99% of the time, I can't stand popcorn. Yesterday, I craved popcorn. I wonder what that means.

Why is it that those who believe so much in a place called Heaven, fight so hard to keep anybody and everybody here, alive, and out of Heaven?
Parts of Terri Schiavo's brain have liquefied. That means that where she should have brain tissue, she has liquid. Court appointed doctors have looked at her and say there is no hope of recovery. None. Terri Schiavo is not coming back. There's nothing to come back to. Terri's lower brain still works. It tells her body to breath, go to the bathroom, sleep, and unfortunately, cause random movements and sometimes smiles. Her eyes are open, and she sometimes smiles. This is why her parents think that she's still here, and I'll admit that if it was my child, I'd probably also have a hard time accepting the smiles and movement as random signals from her lower brain. But this is the truth, and we're not talking about her husband's doctor saying this or that. We're talking about several doctors who do not have a connection to the woman other than the fact they examined her. I hate that if they are able to legally keep her feeding tube out that she'll starve to death. But doctors also say she doesn't feel pain. She won't hurt. She won't know that she's dying. She won't feel a thing. Even so, I'd still rather there be some type of assisted suicide in this case. It wouldn't be really be suicide but more euthanasia for Terri. And isn't euthanasia just a can of worms? If life gets too horrible and each moment is a living hell, I don't see what's wrong with checking out early. I'm not talking about a person suffering from depression, but more like somebody who has lived a good life and now crippled in some way or is suffering from pain or an incurable disease. There is a law in Texas, signed into law by then governor Bush, that says that a hospital can terminate care if there is no hope of recovery. The patient's family gets ten days to find another hospital. Recently, over the family's wishes, a hospital in Texas removed a breathing tube from an infant who had no chance of survival. The infant died moments later. I'm not so sure there is a difference between the infant and Terri. Death is a part of life. You can't avoid it. Why not embrace it sometimes especially if you do believe there is a place to go after you die? I'm just afraid that in Terri Schiavo's situation is that there are people seeing what they want to see, for whatever reason. And I'm including politicians in that as well. I personally believe that Terri left this world almost fifteen years ago, and the only thing left is a shell. Friday, March 18, 2005
I was awoken this morning by the phone. It was a rude man wanting to know if my sister was here. He said she did not leave her keys, and that he wasn't going to be able to take her car. I had little to no clue what he was talking about. But silly me, you need keys to take a car, and apparently, somebody was taking her car. I guess to work on it because it's had problems.
It's been a while since I posted. jh2media has been busy. We just finished a site for the British band Mudkicka. Go here: Mudkicka. The weather here has been foul and icky. The forecast for the other day was "cold and dripping." It's like hardcore winter here. Well, our winter. Our winter is overcast, cold, and muddy. I'm sick of mud. It's getting harder to drive in my driveway. Last night I watched this show with the sister of Scott Peterson. If you don't know, he was giving the death penalty earlier this week for killing his wife and unborn child. The sister believes he drowned his wife in their pool. He's at San Quinton now. San Quinton over looks the same bay that he dumped his wife in. He can look out his window 23 hours a day and see that bay, watch its waters churn and lope. Good for him. I changed the strings on my fat strat the other day. I'm not happy with the strings that are on there now, D' Addario. The seem softer but hotter. They seemed more geared for a rock sound. I don't mind that for some things, but I can't seem to get the same warmth and "purdy" sounds I like out of strings. It's like the D' Addario strings are trying hard not to play the blues. Oh well, I'll get some strings when I can. I still need some strap locks. I'm hungry. I'm going to go eat. Sunday, March 13, 2005

Push on ignition button. Bolt on ignition button. My car uses the bolt on type. I bought the push on type. Joy. But luckily, I had the receipt, and for some unknown reason, the bolt on, which is bigger, costs less than the push on.
I finally had the time along with weather to change my distributor cap and ignition button on my car today. I seemed to have the original cap and button on the car. I honestly believe, short of oil and air filter, that everything on my car is original. Last night, my friends and I went to see Social Distortion live. I love Social Distortion and so should you. Originally, they were supposed to play at Sloss Furnace, but that's an outside venue. It's still winter here. So the show was moved to some warehouse, which was a truly horrible place to have a show. But I'm still glad I got to see Social Distortion. Sunday, March 06, 2005
Does anybody know when Comedy Central will air South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut again? They never show that movie.

It is so rare to see a really good movie, that I sometimes see one and then have to sit and think about. It's like I dissected it just to see if what I had watched was really a good movie or just something I want to be a good movie. A few days ago, I bought the two disc version of Monster on DVD. Over the last few years, I've watched a few documentaries on Aileen Wuornos, a prostitute in Florida who killed a few of her clients. I already had a notion of Aileen and what I felt of her. And I pretty much knew her story that would be in the movie. And while I wasn't surprised at the details in the movie, I was surprised at how good it was. I had not seen the movie before. I just took a chance on the movie.
Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci were amazing. Christina Ricci's character in the movie was named Selby, but in real life her name was Tyra. Charlize Theron was amazing. On the DVD box, Roger Ebert says of Charlize, "This is one of the greatest performances in the history of the cinema." I read that in the store and thought, "You have got to be overacting." After watching the movie, I agree totally with Mr. Ebert. Monster is not a rock em' sock em' serial killer killing spree kind of movie. It is more of a love story. Yes, a love story. The movie does not edit down what Aileen did, but it also humanizes and shows why she did what she did. When I first learned of Aileen, I thought I was okay with her death penalty sentence. After a few more documentaries, I changed my mind. The movie only reinforces my belief that Aileen should not have been sentenced to death. I'm not saying she should have been let free to roam. I'm just saying there are reasons why people do the things that they do. And I do believe that if you don't let things that happened to Aileen happen to children, that they may grow up and have a better chance at life, which is something Aileen never had. Moving on. Today I had to pick Boo up at school. That's my nephew. I went early and parked outside in the line that forms. If you don't go early, you'll end up waiting a bit to pick up your child. So I was sitting there in my car -- yes, my car drove today -- reading Peter Straub's Ghost Story and I heard a girl crying. That's not a good thing to hear. I look to my right and there's a ring of children next to my car. Why does a ring of people always instantly form when something happens? Well, teachers waddled on up and parted the sea of children. An older girl, probably ready to leave elementary school, sat on the ground holding her knee and couldn't move. I did not see her hurt herself. I was asked to move my car to make way for the coming ambulance, and I did. I moved all the way down to the front of the line and parked in front of everybody. Yes, I cut in line, but there was room for people to drive around if they needed to. One last thing; remember Tori Spelling? It's okay if you don't. But doesn't she have a huge head? We just added some screen shots from the Beyond The Ashes site to our portfolio on jh2media.info. It's really nice to make our little site grow, and it's going to continue to grow. We have lots more works to do.
I was thinking yesterday about our National Guard. Why is our National Guard in a foreign country? Is there a definition of "National" that I'm not aware of? I am in full support of our troops. I just don't understand why our National Guard, which was trained to guard this nation, is in a foreign country doing something they never thought they would have to do nor trained to do. They are also not as protected as our regular military forces. And guess what? There sign up rate for the National Guard has gone down and continues to go down. I'm worry that maybe one day we'll have an understaffed National Guard just because our President and his crew mismanaged and mishandled the war in Iraq. And also, that's not the last war our President will start. Look out Iran. We're coming for you next. Either you or Syria. Or maybe both. Who knows what Dubba's going to do? I finished The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson yesterday. It's a spooky little story and a good read. I wish it was longer, but I wish all good books were longer. I started Peter Straub's Ghost Story last night. I remember that movie kind of scary me as a child. But all books are different and better. And so far, the book has been pretty good. I need to find more time to read. Everybody does. Read. |
