  Myth: Eating turkey makes you sleepy.

According to National Geographic News eating turkey does not make you sleepy. Tryptophan, while possibly an "aid in the treatment of depression and multiple sclerosis," does not make you sleepy if you eat it in a meal. Now, purified tryptophan can be a "mild sleep-inducing agent." But it doesn't work if it's in food. And get this; tryptophan "isn't even unusually high" in turkey. It's higher in many other foods "such as beef(.)"

So why do so many people think eating turkey makes them sleepy? My theory is that people eat so much of it, the body tries to slow you down or shut you off a bit so it can recover. I'll be testing my theory later today.  ¶ 1:39 AM

For just $399 (plus lots more for controllers and games and such), you too can have the Microsoft Windows experience in your living room on your game console. After all these years, this is the best they can do. They can't claim the games that cause the crashes were not tested with the XBox 360. There's only so many games, and they have had plenty of time to test run each of them. And the thing is crashing before some people even get to the games part.   Hey, it's cold. It sleeted today (Saturday). I guess we all need to shake that notion that we're in a cold snap. It's not a cold snap. That's just winter outside trying to get inside.

I just got home from my friend Jon's. We watched a documentary called The Comedians of Comedy which is about Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, and Maria Bamford. There is a TV show on Comedy Central by the same name. I guess they got the idea for the show from the documentary.

If you ever wanted to see Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn naked (completely nude in the wild), now's your chance. Just like I did not expect the nudity, I did not expect the "movie" to be a documentary. That was just my ignorance about it. I really thought it was going to be just their comedy routines, but instead it turned out to be an extremely entertaining documentary about their comedy tour that is a lot of their routines; it's not just only their routines.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Brian Posehn is my long, lost brother. Of course, I didn't know I had a long, lost brother until I watched the documentary. So if you're reading this, Brian, please e-mail me. We have a lot of catching up to do.  ¶ 1:30 AM

This is a not-so-hidden page on my site that contains an anti-spambot script. When the page is loaded, it generates one hundred fake e-mail address. Why? Spambots are little programs that search a website for an e-mail address. It will find this page and record all one hundred e-mail addresses. When the spammer tries to use the addresses, they'll all bounce back and hopefully, if enough people do this, flood his system.

  The Bush Administration, mainly Bush and Cheney, seem to want us to believe it's wrong to criticize the war and the reasoning for the war. Your criticism isn't wrong, you're just wrong for criticizing. They say it sends the wrong message to the enemy. So? Who cares what the enemy thinks?

I don't like it when people rule by fear. Yes, there are terrorist out there who want us dead. But every time there is a political opportunity to use it, the Bush Administration seems to say the sky will fall if you don't do what they want you to do. Many people actually believed that if they voted for Kerry last election we all would die.

And I really don't like when somebody questions something the Bush Administration has done or will do the Bush Administration starts questioning their patriotism and suggests it's just irresponsible to question and criticize. Does anybody else see what's wrong with this? Anybody else tired of the mind-games and manipulation?

I am not saying the Bush Administration is down right evil or completely corrupt. That would be irresponsible. I am saying that there are some flawed people in it who can not see that they are flawed. Let's take the war for example. I think it happened because of one of two reasons. One is just plain ole' incompetence on the part of more than a few members of the Bush Administration. Two, and probably more likely reason why the war happened, they saw what they wanted to see and acted on it probably thinking they were acting on the best interests of America. And maybe they also thought about the best interests of more than a few business. War is good for business. Either one, they're really, really wrong right now. And they refuse to admit that and take responsibility.

Bush just recently said the democrats in Congress knew exactly the same stuff he did. So he's basically saying the democrats were as wrong as he was and as wrong as his Administration was. But what he's saying doesn't seem like it could be true. How can Congress know as much as the President and Vice President when both men have access to classified reports that Congress doesn't even know exists? Bush also said the only person falsifying intelligence about the war was Saddam himself. Does that mean the CIA and US Government has cleared Ahmed Chalabi? I don't remember hearing anything about them doing that. And what about the falsified Italian intel about Saddam buying material for a nuclear weapon program? Did we clear the Italian source of that intel as well?

Maybe we need to start asking how come Bush doesn't have all the facts which includes the facts on the incorrect pre-war intelligence, the CIA Valerie Plame leak, and FEMA and hand-picked Michael Brown's poor role in Katrina -- we haven't forgotten about that one. Of course, if we ask about those things, then we'd be wrong, irresponsible, and unpatriotic. And it would also send the wrong message to the enemy.  ¶ 5:28 PM

Did you know that horseshoe crabs are not crabs? They are arthropods, which includes insects, arachnids, and crustaceans. But the horseshoe crab is neither of those. It belongs to its own class, merostomata. What does that mean? That means if you're different enough, you get your own name. Why am I going on about horseshoe crabs? No reason.   I watched a movie with my friend Saturday night called Harold and Maude. I guess you would call it a black comedy. I loved the movie, and I'm not just saying that because there's a '58 Cadillac Hearse in it. The movie, which contains several realistic false suicides and a romantic relationship between a 19 year old man and a 79 year old woman, was strangely on the HBO Family channel. I guess you could say the movie is about growing up and accepting death and life. All I know is that it was funny in a dark and twisted way. And all of you know it's rare that I like anything dark and twisted.

The redesign of Under The Moon continues. I don't want to promise anything because sometimes life happens, but I think we're about a week away from having it done. I'm amazed at how much work it takes to make things look easy, but that's the web design business and a key skill that we don't mind showing off. And we being, of course, jh2media.

  There will be a Ghostbusters 3. So far, it's being called Ghostbusters in Hell.

Yesterday, Tuesday, staffers of the Bush Administration had a refresher class in ethics. See, I heard something about that on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Monday night. I thought it was a joke. But no, they actually had to have a refresher class in ethics at the White House on Tuesday.

I'm worried about Scott McClellan. I think he needs to take some time off, or he'll end up snapping, maybe strangling kittens or something. I just hope Helen Thomas isn't sitting in the front row when he does snap. I think everybody in the press should chip in and get him a Bodhi Tree to take care of, help release some that stress.

The redesign of this site is still underway. Things are taking as long as they take. I can't wait myself.

  The fire truck went down today while I was sitting outside. It was late in the day, and the sun had been behind dark clouds. So there wasn't much light to take a pic, but I tried anyway. It didn't dawn on me that fire trucks move fast which means they may not show up all that well.


I worked a little on the redesign of this site today. While sick, and I'm still a bit sick, I didn't do anything. So when I sat down to do a little work, I had to spend some time figuring out how everything worked again. I'll do more work tomorrow. The site needs a change.

  After the good fight, I went to the doctor yesterday. I have a bronchial infection, and I'm on some good medicine, which includes something with codeine... mmm codeine. Over the last few days of being sick, I've watched a lot of TV and slept. I've also had time to think about a few things that I want to point out.

Orbs are not ghosts. Stop getting excited at seeing them. Orbs are dust, moisture, or possibly -- in the rare situation when they are not dust or moisture -- energy. 99% of the time, orbs are dust and moisture. I hate seeing people get all excited at an orb.

I watched a lot of Most Haunted Live on the Travel Channel. Most Haunted is a British ghost hunting show. I will admit to finding it entertaining, but it is not serious ghost hunting. They seem to use very little equipment outside of a video camera. They use psychics, which you can not use as scientific proof no matter how eerily correct they seem to be. They also seem to turn a lot of things into ouija boards. They even have a table with wheels on it they bring into places and all touch. This is not scientific. Like I said, I do find it entertaining. Why? Because these people are highly susceptible and prone to scaring the crap out of themselves. I don't think they're are faking. I just think they are scaring themselves and freaking out on their own. That doesn't mean that there isn't some kind of supernatural influence going on. There probably is. I'm just saying the show is not a good example of ghost hunting.

Exxon reported a $9.9 billion profit last quarter. That's last quarter, not all year. And that's a profit. That's after they paid for the oil and turned it into gas, and paid all their employees and bills. They had $9.9 billion extra. I'm troubled by the fact that most Americans haven't taken to the street yelling at the top of their lungs. Do you know why gas is so expensive? It's because of greedy oil companies. $9.9 billion profit. Imagine how cheap gas would be if Exxon applied that $9.9 billion gas prices.

I think scooters are going to be a big Christmas gift this year. Why? I keep hearing about some special scooter on TV.

That's all I can think of right now. There's been a ton on my mind lately. I need to go rest some more. I'm sick as a dog, but I do feel better than I did. I hope to be doing more soon like getting back to the redesign of this site. But for now, I need to get healthy.
